I use exclusively Aveda products and color.

This is a matter of hair condition and your at home regimen. The condition of your hair will determine the color results and how long your color stays “true”. If your hair is damaged, the color can easily come out of the hair resulting in fading. The shampoo and conditioners you use at home are invaluable in keeping your color vibrant longer. I recommend Aveda’s Color Conserve shampoo and conditioner. Color Conserve is formulated with natural ingredients that gently cleanse, without stripping out color and has natural UV protection. Used in conjunction with the Color Conserve Strengthening Treatment you will achieve better color results from the start and keep your color truer longer.

A quick fix is to add some low-lights that are as close to your natural shade as possible. To avoid that problem, I, as a stylist, try to only retouch the strand I have previously high-lighted. The process takes longer but the payoff is once my client achieve the desired amount of high-lights, they don’t have to deal with becoming too blonde over time.
